Machine Operator – Ongoing Opportunity | Strong Team | Great Earning Potential
Location:
This role is based across a variety of rural project sites, currently starting in Orroroo, NSW. If you enjoy working in different locations and prefer being out on site rather than stuck in the same place every day, this could be a great fit.
About the Opportunity:
We’re seeking an experienced Machine Operator to join a close-knit crew on an initial 6-week contract + potential ongoing work after, with strong potential for ongoing work. This is a hands-on, versatile role combining machinery operation with practical field work, ideal for someone who enjoys variety and being part of a hardworking team.
You’ll be working on a structured 21 days on / 7 days off roster, with 10–12 hour days, offering consistent hours and excellent overtime earning potential.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Operating excavators and other plant equipment as required
- Assisting with civil works including blockages, repairs and site preparation
- Supporting cable hauling operations (rod, rope & hauling activities)
- Carrying out general labouring tasks such as fencing, excavation and site maintenance
- Operating additional machinery including dozers, vacuum trucks, cranes, winches and HR trucks (as required)

What We’re Looking For:
- Reliable, self-sufficient operator who can work confidently in remote environments
- Strong work ethic with an easy-going, team-oriented attitude
- Comfortable working in rural conditions (heat, flies, changing terrain)
- Willingness to jump in and assist with labouring tasks when needed
Essential Requirements:
- Excavator VOC
- Proven experience operating excavators and/or dozers
- Ability to load machinery onto transport trucks
- White Card
- Willingness to operate trucks and equipment as required
Highly Regarded:
- MC Truck Licence or additional plant tickets
Pay & Conditions:
- $33–$35 per hour (based on experience)
- Overtime paid daily:
- First 8 hours: standard
- Next 2 hours: time and a half
- 10+ hours: double time
- Weekend rates:
- Saturday: time and a half (first 2 hours), then double time
- Sunday/Public Holidays: double time

- Travel time is not paid
