Communications Officer | Telecommunications Infrastructure

We are seeking an experienced Communications Officer to join a major telecommunications infrastructure project, supporting workforce engagement across a large subcontracted field workforce.
This is an exciting opportunity for a communications professional who enjoys building communication strategies from the ground up, collaborating with operational teams, and driving meaningful workforce engagement across a fast-paced project environment.
About the Role
Working alongside project managers, schedulers and operational leaders, you’ll be responsible for designing and implementing communication channels that improve engagement, streamline information flow and ensure field teams remain informed throughout project delivery.
This role can be based in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane or Perth, with a hybrid working arrangement that includes time spent collaborating with project teams in the office.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement workforce communication and engagement strategies.
- Establish communication channels, processes and governance for a subcontracted workforce.
- Build strong relationships with project managers, site managers and operational teams.
- Produce project communications including newsletters, bulletins, updates and stakeholder messaging.
- Coordinate deployment and adoption of digital communication platforms and workforce applications.
- Support project delivery and change management initiatives.
- Monitor engagement metrics and provide reporting and insights to stakeholders.
About You
To be successful, you’ll bring:
- Minimum 3-5 years’ experience within telecommunications or a related infrastructure industry.
- Previous experience in workforce communications, stakeholder engagement or project delivery.
- Strong Microsoft 365 skills, particularly SharePoint.
- Experience creating and implementing communication channels for operational or subcontracted workforces.
- Strong written communication skills with the ability to simplify complex operational information into clear, engaging messages.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills and confidence working with field-based operational teams.
- Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Highly Regarded
- Qualifications in Communications, Public Relations or Marketing (or equivalent industry experience).
- Experience with process improvement or communication automation.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Teams, Viva Engage or other workforce communication platforms.
- Change management experience.
