Remediation Technicians – Soil Remediation Project (Gasworks Sites)
Locations: Portland, Hamilton & Warrnambool, VIC
Pay Rate: $38 per hour + $5/hour PPE allowance (When required to operate in PPE)
Schedule: (50+ hours a week) Monday to Friday, 7:00am – 5:00pm | Saturday, 7:00am – 3:00pm
Start Date: From July through August 2025
Duration: 2-Year Project
Eligibility: Open to Australian Citizens, Permanent Residents, Backpackers & Visa Holders with full working rights.
About the Project: We are currently recruiting multiple Remediation Technicians for a long-term environmental remediation project in South-West Victoria. This project involves the clean-up and controlled remediation of contaminated soil from former gasworks sites. Work will be conducted both outdoors and within enclosed tent structures, requiring a strong commitment to safety protocols and working in confined conditions.

Key Responsibilities:
- Perform soil remediation and handling tasks in areas impacted by hazardous materials (including benzene)
- Operate safely within controlled environments, including tented workspaces (confined space conditions)
- Follow strict site safety, contamination control, and decontamination protocols
- Assist with material removal, soil screening, and basic equipment operation
- Maintain accurate daily records and follow direction from site supervisors and environmental engineers
Skills and Qualifications
Essential:
- White Card (Construction Induction)
- Physically fit and capable of manual labour in variable conditions
- Comfortable working in full PPE and confined environments (tented workspaces)
- Strong communication skills and ability to follow safety protocols and site instructions
- Proven reliability, punctuality, and strong work ethic
Desirable:
- Environmental remediation experience
- Experience in civil construction or contaminated land projects
- Confined Space Entry ticket (highly regarded)
- Experience working on sites with hazardous materials (e.g. hydrocarbons, asbestos, PFAS)
Highly Regarded Tickets (Bonus but not mandatory):
- Excavator ticket
- Skid Steer (Bobcat) ticket
- MR/HR License
- Roller ticket
- Verification of Competency (VOC) for plant operations
Requirements:
- Ability to supply your own minimum PPE (steel cap boots, hard hat, gloves, safety glasses, high vis)
- Willingness to undergo pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol screening
- Proven reliability and a strong work ethic
- Commitment to safety, environmental responsibility, and site protocols
